Dog Race in Alaska by Miguel

On the 13th February, a very special race is ran every year between Alaska and Canada: the Youkon Quest.
                                                                   
SPECIAL TRANSPORT
Mushers (sled drivers) have special trucks to transport their dogs. The dogs have separate compartments.
                                                             
A DIFFICULT RACE
The dogs race 65 kilometers  every day.When the dogs stop , a veterinarian examines  them.
                                                                   
THE YUKON QUEST
The Yukon  Quest is a sled-dog race in Alaska and Canada. The "mushers" have 8 to 14 dogs. They race 1,650 kilometers on snow and ice.

DOG BOOTEES
The dogs have special bootees, so they do not get hurt.

FOOD AND SLEEP
 The dogs rest and sleep only three times a day. They sleep on straw.
