A dog race By Eneko
On 13th February, a very unusual race is run between Alaska and Canada: The Yukon Quest. The participants: huskies and their mushers. Mushers have special trucks to transport their dogs. The dogs have separated compartments in the truck. The dogs race 65 kilometres every day. It is a difficult race. When the dogs stop, a veterinarian examines them. The Yukon Quest is a sled-dog race in Alaska and Canada. The mushers have eight to 14 dogs. They race 1,650 kilometres on snow and ice. The dogs have special bootees. The bootees protect the dogs from the cold. The dogs stop to eat and sleep 3 times in 24 hours. They sleep on straw.
